Fluke Anchor

A fluke anchor, also known as a Danforth anchor, is a type of anchor commonly used in small to medium-sized boats. It consists of two long, sharp pivoting flukes that dig into the seabed and a stock at the crown of the anchor that keeps the flukes perpendicular to the seabed. The fluke anchor is designed to provide high holding power in sand and mud bottoms, making it a popular choice for recreational boaters. It is lightweight and easy to handle, making it ideal for small boats. However, it is not recommended for use in rocky or heavily weeded bottoms. The fluke anchor is named after its inventor, Richard Danforth.
