Drowning

Drowning is the process of experiencing respiratory impairment from submersion or immersion in liquid. It can be fatal or non-fatal. Drowning occurs when a person is unable to keep their airway open and breathe air. In maritime context, drowning is a major concern for sailors and passengers on ships, especially during emergencies such as shipwrecks, collisions, or man overboard situations. It is important for maritime personnel to be trained in water survival techniques and to have access to appropriate safety equipment such as life jackets and life rafts.
