Draft Marks

Draft marks are markings on the side of a ship that indicate the depth of the ship's keel below the waterline. These marks are used to determine the amount of cargo that can be safely loaded onto the ship without exceeding its maximum draft. Draft marks are typically located on both the port and starboard sides of the ship, and are measured in feet or meters. The markings are usually painted in a contrasting color to the hull of the ship, making them easy to read from a distance. Draft marks are an important tool for ensuring the safety and stability of a ship during loading and unloading operations.
