Dead Light

Dead Light is a term used in maritime navigation to refer to a light that is not functioning or has gone out. Dead lights can be dangerous for ships as they can lead to confusion and misjudgment of distances, especially in poor visibility conditions. It is important for ships to report any dead lights they encounter to the relevant authorities so that they can be fixed or replaced as soon as possible. In addition, ships should always have alternative means of navigation, such as radar or GPS, to ensure safe passage even in the event of dead lights.
