Countersunk Rivet

A countersunk rivet is a type of rivet that is designed to sit flush with the surface of the material it is being used to fasten. This is achieved by countersinking the hole that the rivet will be inserted into, so that the head of the rivet sits below the surface of the material. Countersunk rivets are commonly used in the maritime industry to fasten metal plates together, particularly in shipbuilding and repair. They are preferred over other types of fasteners because they create a smooth surface that is less likely to catch on other objects or cause injury to personnel. Countersunk rivets are typically made of aluminum, steel, or titanium, and are available in a range of sizes and styles to suit different applications.
