Consumption Tax

A consumption tax is a tax on spending on goods and services. It is usually implemented as a value-added tax (VAT) or a sales tax. In the maritime context, consumption tax may be applied to goods and services purchased by ships while in port or within the territorial waters of a country. This tax may be levied on fuel, supplies, repairs, and other services consumed by the ship. The tax revenue generated from consumption tax may be used to fund infrastructure projects, environmental protection measures, and other public services related to the maritime industry.
