Bridle

In maritime context, a bridle is a type of mooring arrangement used to secure a vessel to a pier or a buoy. It consists of two lines, each of which is attached to the ship at different points and led to separate mooring points on the pier or buoy. The purpose of a bridle is to distribute the load of the vessel evenly across the two mooring points, reducing the risk of damage to the vessel or the mooring points. Bridles are commonly used in situations where a vessel is subject to strong currents or winds, or where the vessel needs to be held in a specific position, such as during loading or unloading operations.
