Bilgeway

A bilgeway is a channel or passage along the sides of a ship's hold, used for the flow of water to the pumps. It is designed to collect any water that enters the ship's hold and direct it towards the bilge pumps, which remove the water from the ship. Bilgeways are typically located at the lowest point of the ship's hold, where water is most likely to accumulate. They are an important part of a ship's drainage system, helping to prevent flooding and maintain stability.
