Bilge Well

A bilge well is a compartment within the hull of a ship or boat where water collects and is pumped out. It is the lowest point of the vessel where water can accumulate due to leaks, condensation, or other sources. Bilge wells are designed to prevent the accumulation of water in the bilge, which can cause stability issues, corrosion, and damage to the vessel's structure. They are typically located in the lowest part of the engine room and are equipped with pumps to remove the water. Proper maintenance of bilge wells is essential for the safe operation of a vessel.
