Bearer
In maritime context, a bearer refers to a person or entity that holds a bill of lading or other transport document that serves as proof of ownership of the goods being transported. The bearer has the right to take possession of the goods upon arrival at the destination port and can transfer this right to another party by endorsing the document. The bearer can be the shipper, the consignee, or a third party who has acquired the document through a legitimate transfer. The bearer is responsible for presenting the document to the carrier or their agent in order to take delivery of the goods.
