Back Bar

In maritime context, the term 'Back Bar' refers to the area located at the stern of a vessel where the steering gear is housed. This area is usually enclosed and contains the mechanical and electrical equipment necessary for controlling the direction of the ship. The Back Bar is an essential part of the vessel's navigation system and is operated by the helmsman who uses the ship's wheel or other control devices to steer the ship. The Back Bar is also responsible for transmitting the steering commands to the rudder, which is the primary means of changing the ship's direction.
