Anchors

Anchors are heavy metal devices that are used to hold a ship in place and prevent it from drifting due to wind or current. They are attached to the ship by a chain or rope and are dropped to the bottom of the sea or riverbed. The anchor's design and weight depend on the size and type of the vessel, as well as the depth and type of the seabed. The most common type of anchor is the fluke anchor, which has two arms that dig into the seabed. Other types of anchors include the plow anchor, the claw anchor, and the mushroom anchor. Anchors are an essential safety feature on ships and are used in emergency situations to prevent the vessel from running aground or colliding with other ships or structures.
