ALARP
ALARP stands for 'As Low As Reasonably Practicable'. It is a risk management principle used in the maritime industry to ensure that risks are reduced to the lowest possible level, taking into account the time, effort and cost involved in implementing additional measures. The ALARP principle requires that risks be reduced to a level that is tolerable and acceptable, but not necessarily to a level of zero risk. This is because it is often not possible to completely eliminate all risks in the maritime industry. The ALARP principle is used to ensure that risks are managed in a practical and cost-effective manner, while still maintaining safety standards.
