Access Control
Access Control in maritime context refers to the process of regulating and restricting access to certain areas of a vessel or port facility. This is done to ensure the safety and security of the vessel, its crew, cargo, and passengers. Access Control systems may include physical barriers such as gates, fences, and turnstiles, as well as electronic systems such as card readers, biometric scanners, and surveillance cameras. Access Control is an important aspect of port and vessel security, and is often required by international regulations such as the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
