True Seals
True seals, also known as earless seals, are a group of marine mammals that belong to the family Phocidae. They are characterized by their lack of external ear flaps and their reliance on blubber for insulation. True seals are found in both the Arctic and Antarctic regions, as well as in temperate and tropical waters. They are excellent divers and can hold their breath for up to two hours while hunting for fish, squid, and crustaceans. True seals are also known for their unique mating behaviors, which often involve vocalizations and physical displays. Some species of true seals, such as the harp seal and the hooded seal, are hunted for their fur and oil.
