Spudwell

Spudwell is a term used in the maritime industry to refer to the initial drilling of a well in the seabed. It involves the use of a drilling rig to create a hole in the seabed for the purpose of extracting oil or gas. The process of spudding a well involves the use of a drill bit that is lowered into the seabed by a drilling rig. The drill bit is rotated and the seabed is gradually penetrated until the well reaches the desired depth. Once the well has been spudded, the drilling rig is typically replaced by a production platform or vessel that is used to extract the oil or gas from the well.
