SCBA
Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) is a type of respiratory protective equipment used by divers, firefighters, and other emergency personnel to provide breathable air in an immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH) atmosphere. It consists of a full-face mask, a high-pressure tank of compressed air, and a regulator that supplies air on demand. SCBAs are essential for maritime emergency response, such as firefighting, search and rescue, and shipboard damage control. They allow the wearer to breathe safely in hazardous environments, including those with low oxygen levels, toxic gases, and smoke. Proper training and maintenance are critical for the effective use of SCBAs.
