Ratline
Ratline is a small line or rope that runs across the shrouds of a ship and used as a ladder for sailors to climb aloft. It is also known as Jacob's Ladder. Ratlines are used to provide a foothold for sailors to climb the rigging and work on the sails or perform maintenance on the mast. They are made of rope or wire and are secured to the shrouds with seizings. Ratlines are an essential part of the rigging of a ship and are used extensively in sailing vessels.
