Open Loop

Open Loop is a type of exhaust gas cleaning system used in ships to reduce the sulfur content of emissions. In this system, seawater is used as a scrubbing agent to remove sulfur oxides from the exhaust gas. The seawater is then discharged back into the sea, without any treatment. This system is simple and cost-effective, but it has been criticized for its potential environmental impact, as the discharge of untreated seawater can harm marine life and ecosystems.
