Molded Depth
Molded depth is the vertical distance measured from the top of the keel to the underside of the uppermost continuous deck that has permanent means of closing all openings in the weather-tight boundaries. It is measured at the middle of the length of the ship, from the top of the keel to the top of the deck beam at the ship's side. Molded depth is an important measurement for determining a ship's stability and load capacity.
