FO (IFO)

FO (Fuel Oil) or IFO (Intermediate Fuel Oil) is a type of marine fuel that is used in large ships such as tankers, container ships, and bulk carriers. It is a heavy, viscous, and residual oil that is produced from crude oil after the distillation process. FO is classified into different grades based on its viscosity, sulfur content, and flash point. It is used as a primary fuel source for marine engines and boilers. FO is stored in dedicated tanks on board the ship and is transferred to the engine room through a fuel oil service system. The use of FO is regulated by international and national laws to reduce its impact on the environment.
