Drift Angle

Drift angle is the angle between the heading of a ship and the direction in which it is actually moving due to the influence of wind, current, or other external factors. It is the angle between the ship's heading and the track it is actually making over the ground. Drift angle is an important factor in navigation as it affects the ship's speed and direction, and can cause the ship to deviate from its intended course. It is measured using instruments such as a gyrocompass or GPS, and can be compensated for by adjusting the ship's heading or speed.
