Cetaceans are a widely distributed and diverse group of aquatic mammals that includes whales, dolphins, and porpoises. They are highly adapted to life in the water, with streamlined bodies, flippers or flukes for propulsion, and a blowhole on top of their head for breathing. Cetaceans are found in all of the world's oceans, as well as in some major river systems. They are important both ecologically and culturally, with many species playing key roles in marine food webs and being revered by humans for their intelligence and beauty.
