Carvel Built

Carvel built is a method of constructing wooden boats and ships where planks of wood are fastened edge to edge, creating a smooth hull surface. In this method, the planks are laid flush with one another, rather than overlapping as in clinker built construction. The planks are attached to a frame using nails or screws, and the seams between them are sealed with caulking material to make the hull watertight. Carvel built construction allows for a stronger and more durable hull, as well as a smoother and faster vessel. This method of construction is commonly used in modern boatbuilding, particularly for larger vessels.
