Boss Plate

A boss plate is a thick metal plate that is used to reinforce the area around a propeller shaft where it passes through the hull of a ship. The boss plate is bolted to the hull and provides additional strength to the area, which is subject to high stresses and vibrations. The plate is typically made of steel and is designed to withstand the forces generated by the propeller and the movement of the shaft. The boss plate is an important component of the ship's propulsion system and helps to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
